A Wonderful, Whirlwind Day

Phew!  I mean, spring is always crazy busy with the school year winding down and summer approaching, but I just don't know that I could've (if I would've tried) squeezed ONE more thing into this day!

First up, Muffins for Moms with Bug...

then on to Leapfrog's rainforest play, an annual tradition in the first grade, put on by both the music teacher and all of the first grade teachers...  Every single child has a speaking part...

He was a boa constrictor...

Hubby left right afterwards for his annual training (15 days away from us overnight & staying in this)...

Anywho, back to my day...

So, after the play (and cast party), I rushed back to the girls' preschool for Lady's Mother's Day celebration...

One of my most favorite things is seeing myself through the eyes of my children.  I never tire of the "All About Mom" poems and portraits that come home with the little ones this time of year...

After picking up the girls from school, we ran home for a quick lunch before picking up Leapfrog from school, too...

Then, it was on to Clemson to drop off the final documents for my student teachers.  The little ones were very good traipsing along with me all over campus on graduation day.

After finishing up there, we booked it back home to get ready (and stand in line to get in) for Lady's dance recital...

It was a busy day and a late night, but full of very special celebrations...and not the last day like this around these parts, I'm for certain...

Cinco de Bug

Sweet Bug, my Cinco de Mayo baby, turned 3 today!  I booked it back from Charleston eeeaaarrrlllyyy this morning to make it home in time to give sweet Bug her birthday "treat"...

We ventured out in the wet & weary weather to our local Mexican dive of choice (it's pretty much tradition, now!) for her "place to eat"...

and then on to Marble Slab Creamery (coincidently where Hubby & I had our very first date!) for ice cream, her "something neat"...

Happy, Happy Birthday to our sweet little Bug!

Night at the Races

After finishing up a busy week closing out the semester with my student teachers, I got to get away to Charleston for some fun this weekend.  A, K and I headed down to the coast this morning and got to town around lunchtime.

We stopped at Boone's Bar, where I had the a Blueberry Lemonade & the Lovebug Wrap ~ it was YUM!

After lunch, we did a little shopping before walking back to the hotel to get ready for the derby party that we had come down for...

What fun to celebrate "the greatest 2 minutes in sports" with such sweet friends!

Rapunzel

You always hear about those "poor, middle kids"...  They aren't the oldest...  They aren't the youngest...  They're just "stuck in the middle"...  Cognizant of that, and trying to make the effort to spend a little special "one-on-one time" with each of our little ones, as often as we can (which is never really often enough it seems!), Lady and I took in the local children's theatre's Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale...

and got to visit with the characters after the performance...

What a fun day and some precious time with my sweet little "middle" one...

Festival!

The last weekend in April is always the Inman Park Festival & Tour of Homes...

always...  since before my birth...

We spent the morning back at my old stomping grounds, in the neighborhood where I spent the first few years of my life, as my parents renovated a Victorian beauty...

Here is "my house" now...

here it is back in 1972 (just a couple of months after my parents bought it) during the very first Festival...

and here it is a couple of years later...

{that's my mom just home from the hospital with me!}

less than a week before being on tour during the Festival of 1975!

Besides checking in on "my house", we went to check on my daddy's tree, too...

More from Festival 2011 here...

I really hope we'll make this an annual tradition with our little family of 5!
