I found this recipe online for Candy Corn Pudding Parfaits and thought it was just too cute and not too terrible of a "treat" for this time of year.
I instantly decided to try it out with both Leapfrog and Lady... First of all, Candy Corn Hershey's Kisses? Not until now had I even heard of such a thing. I looked around a couple candy aisles here and there to see if I could find them...Publix, Target, Walgreens... Of course, I didn't see anything close to what I was looking for... Sooo, I did a little online research and found out that they were originally made exclusively for Target and that the next year they were available in a few more markets... Anyway, on one of my late night Target runs I decided to really comb through the candy and this time I at least found where they were supposed to be. The shelf for Candy Corn Kisses was empty but I found both Caramel Apple and Pumpkin Spice Kisses. I decided that for my purposes (the recipes calls for them to be melted and used to dye the pudding orange) the Pumpkin Spice variety would work just fine... I have never really been a fan of candy corn anyway! I changed the recipe a bit, making it with four layers instead of three layers. So here is my take on it!

1st layer - vanilla pudding mixed with a couple drops of red and yellow food coloring
2nd layer - vanilla pudding mixed with some melted Pumpkin Spice Kisses
3rd layer - plain vanilla pudding
4th layer - Cool Whip
Lastly, I topped each one with a Pumpkin Spice Kiss!
I guess I should re-name my version Pumpkinilla Pudding Parfaits! Anyway, I think that they turned out pretty cute and tasted great, too. The kids just LOVED their special "treat"!
