Candy Cane Craft {how to}

Sweet Lady had her K2 Class Christmas Party today. 
One of my jobs as Room Mom is to coordinate the class parties & to fill in as needed, so today I put together a quick & easy little candy cane craft for the 12 little ones in Lady's class to complete during their Christmas Party.

I thought that they turned out quite cute!




Here are the details to make one of your own...

Materials:
5x7 canvas panel
choice of acrylic paint for background
(I used Craft Smart "Apple Tart")
red acrylic paint
white acrylic paint
coordinating ribbon
(I used 7/8 inch grosgrain)
glue gun with glue sticks
"The Legend of the Candy Cane"
{FREE printable from Happy Home Fairy}

Directions:

1.  Paint 2 coats of background color on canvas panel.  Let dry completely.


2.  Cut a 6 inch piece of ribbon to use for hanger & attach to back of canvas panel with glue gun.


3.  Print "The Legend of the Candy Cane" FREE printable found here on cardstock & cut to size.  Glue to back of canvas panel.


4.  Use child's fingertip to paint alternating red & white fingerprints in the shape of a candy cane.  Let dry completely.  Make sure to plan your candy cane shape so that it makes a "J" when turned upside down.  (We actually turned the canvas panel upside down to make sure that we were creating a "J" shape!)


5.  Cut a 3 inch piece of ribbon to use for adornment & knot in middle. 
Attach to fingerprint candy cane with glue gun.

 

6.  Hang to display & praise your proud little artist!

  5. wow - I never knew that about the candy cane! My primary focus up til now has been to keep them away from my 2 toddlers!

    I love the fingerprint idea to personalise this craft project.
